Several Dublin establishments received closure orders in January due to food safety regulation violations by FSAI.

Bewley’s Cafe on Grafton Street had to stop using its vacuum sealer. They used it for both raw fish and ready-to-eat foods. Egg mayo was vacuum-packed in the same machine. This could spread bacteria. This order lasted from January 8th to January 17th, 2025.
Ella’s Heaven Cafe and Bakery also got a closure. Cockroaches were found in their kitchen. These were right above the food and spices. The order was there from January 15th to January 22nd, 2025.
Balam Limited in Glasnevin received a closure order too. This happened on January 29th, 2025. Reasons were cracked floors and crumbling plaster. Also, there was a lack of cleaning, which led to a contamination risk. That one is still in place.
Indian Tiffins on Parnell Street also got a closure notice. Damp and mold were found in the basement. They also lacked a food safety system. The order was from January 22nd to January 30th, 2025.
The FSAI says food safety is the law. Businesses must keep food safe. Those who fail will face action. They need safety systems to prevent problems.
