A man named Andrew Tweedy caused some trouble. He assaulted a Metro worker, which is bad, when they tried to remove him. He seemed too drunk on the train, apparently.

This incident was Tweedy’s 104th offense; quite a record. It took place at Northumberland Park Metro Station. The police were called to the scene quickly and arrested the 44-year-old. He even had cannabis in his possession at that time.

Tweedy admitted guilt in court this week. He pleaded guilty to both assault and drug possession. The prosecutor, Brian Payne, gave details. Metro officers responded to a report last year mentioning an unconscious man on the train.

The officers found Tweedy on the train. He had wine and was very drunk. They asked him to leave politely, but he became aggressive after leaving the train station. CCTV showed him pushing one of the officers.

Police discovered a small amount of cannabis on him. Tweedy admitted to using the drug and to drinking. He said his mental health suffered, and childhood experiences caused these issues. This led him back to drinking, he explained.

His lawyer, Lewis Pearson, offered a different view. He said Tweedy felt harassed by the officer. Tweedy told them his destination, but the officers kept bothering him relentlessly. He felt that their actions were very provocative.

The judge postponed sentencing for now and wants to check Tweedy’s mental health first. He already receives help for alcohol issues. The judge released Tweedy on bail and he must return to court on March 28 for a hearing soon.
