Shane Gibson jailed after a wild pursuit in Hull involving multiple vehicle collisions and assaulting an officer.

Police tried to stop him, using lights and sirens. Gibson did not cooperate with them at all. He sped off, going 40 mph in a 20 mph zone. He drove on the wrong side of the road, almost hitting a cyclist. He cut in front of cars at a red light.
Then, he sped through the light. He hit a taxi, which then crashed into street signs. He continued hitting other cars and braking hard. Gibson reversed into the police car, causing damage.
He then hit another car, a Renault Scenic. The police tried to block him with their car. This pushed the Scenic into yet another car. Finally, Gibson stopped. An officer broke Gibson’s window.
He told him to turn off the engine. But Gibson punched the officer repeatedly. The officer pulled him out of the car. Gibson’s eyes looked glazed. He was clearly drunk.
The officer got cut and hurt his wrist. He also suffered whiplash. Gibson also got treated for injuries at a hospital. He has been in trouble before. Violence and driving offenses appear on his record.
Gibson’s lawyer said he called himself a “fool.” He knows he messed up badly. He is ashamed and sorry, especially to the officer. He’s struggled with alcohol problems.
The judge said it was a drunken chase.
Gibson deliberately drove into cars and hurt an officer. So, he got 16 months in jail. Plus, he is banned from driving for three and a half years. He must pass a hard test to drive again.
