Driver U.Ç. jailed for ‘murder by negligence’ after Christopher Potter, a Glasgow dad and Rangers fan, died in Istanbul.

Christopher, in his 40s, was hit by a car crossing the street after getting cash. It happened by the Naval Museum around 4:30 AM. Reports indicate another car then hit him, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
Christopher was from Glasgow’s east end; he was a husband and father. A driver, U.Ç., first hit Christopher, and reports say HG then struck him. Police questioned both drivers regarding the incident.
Both drivers faced “murder by negligence” charges. HG gave a statement and was released, while U.Ç. was arrested after his statement and sent to prison. The case status remains unclear at this time.
Rangers chiefs were “devastated” by the news and sent condolences to his family. Fans dedicated their win to Christopher, stating “tonight’s win was for you.”
People have raised over £100,000 for the family. A GoFundMe page quickly collected donations, with players like Tavernier donating to the cause. The money will help with the funeral and support the family’s needs; bringing his body home is also a priority.
Tributes appeared on social media, with The Bristol Bar sharing a message; they said Christopher was a regular customer and “Christopher Potter was one in a million.” The bar shared their condolences with his family.
The Foreign Office knows about the death and is in communication with Turkish authorities.
