A driver was jailed after causing a fatal crash that killed a loving father, Ian Gooden, on the A6121.

Kane Clears drove at 90mph on the wrong side of the road. He hit Ian Gooden’s Ford Focus. The court sentenced Clears to over seven years in prison after he admitted causing death by dangerous driving.
Ian’s family said he will stay in their hearts. His wife, Gyonyul Gooden, honored him, calling him a loving and caring man, and a wonderful father to their two young sons. He filled their lives with love, and Ian always put his family first. He taught his children kindness, and his gentle spirit made their home warm.
Ian dreamed of the future; he wanted to take his boys camping and show them nature. He loved reading them stories and enjoyed teaching them math.
Gyonyul said they felt lucky before and gave their time to their boys. His love will stay in their hearts now, and she will raise their sons, ages three and five. Ian’s legacy of love will guide them.
She thanked everyone for remembering him. His sister, Mary Bowker, also shared thoughts, saying he meant so much to her as a brother. Mary said Ian guided her, and she could be the best version of herself. She stated he filled her life with joy, and her brother left suddenly, much too soon.
Ian’s brother, Phil Gooden, also spoke, saying Ian was a good man. It was the best time of his life; he had two young sons and a new wife. The world is poorer now, Phil stated.
