A driver crashed his BMW hitting bollards while trying to connect his phone via Bluetooth, resulting in a drunk driving conviction.

An off-duty officer saw the crash and alerted police. Rajpra, 42, claimed Bluetooth caused it; he said he was talking to a friend when it occurred near Humberstone Park.
Ravinder Daroch described the case in court at Leicester Magistrates’ Court. The crash occurred around 5:30 pm, and Rajpra drove over two signs.
Police gave Rajpra a roadside breath test. He failed this test and went to the station, where his reading was 71 microgrammes; the legal limit is only 35.
Rajpra defended himself in court, revealing a prior drunk driving conviction from 2011. He denied drinking this time, blaming his painkillers.
He offered the tablets to the magistrates, but Carolyn Clifton, the chair, declined. The court banned Rajpra from driving for 22 months, and he also received a fine and other costs.
