A bus caught fire Sunday, March 9 at Stockport Interchange. Police suspect the double decker bus was intentionally set on fire. The fire caused the interchange to close temporarily.

The fire appeared to originate on the bus’s top floor. Pictures captured the bus completely engulfed in flames. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and worked to extinguish the fire. Smoke filled the air above the station.

The incident occurred around 6:30 PM. Three fire engines worked to extinguish the flames, remaining on the scene for approximately 40 minutes. Police are investigating the fire as possible arson, and Transport for Greater Manchester will assist them in determining the cause.

Police received reports of the bus fire around 6:45 PM on Sunday at Stockport Interchange on Mersey Square. Firefighters also responded to the incident. Transport for Greater Manchester confirmed that nobody was injured. They will support the police investigation.
