Woodey, trapped in a drain at Addington Hills, was rescued thanks to firefighters and the enticing smell of sausage.

The owners walked their dogs, Woodey and Quincey. They lost sight of them at a beauty spot. Both dogs are eight years old. They fell into a pipe on a hill.
Quincey escaped. He barked to tell the owners Woodey was stuck. This happened during their walk on January 29. The owner, Lesley, called for help.
She contacted the fire brigade and her son. The pipe made it sound like Woodey struggled to breathe. Firefighters arrived to help.
The fire officer saw Woodey was deep inside. They used a camera to find him. They decided to break the pipe carefully. They aimed to keep the dog safe.
Lesley’s son arrived with a sausage. The sausage would lure Woodey out. Breaking the pipe made noise. Woodey smelled the sausage and moved. He then ran up the pipe to get out.
Firefighters grabbed Woodey and finished the rescue. Lesley said they did a great job. She felt relieved after it happened.
The fire brigade said they help animals. They want people to call the RSPCA first. Firefighters will assist with special tools. This was needed in the case.
