A family is devastated after their dog was hit, dragged, and severely injured in a hit and run in Darlington.

Charlie, a three-year-old dog, escaped his home in Darlington on February 4. Zoe Edwards and her family searched everywhere. They learned a car had hit Charlie, leaving him with serious injuries.
The accident happened on North Road around 8:10 PM. The car dragged Charlie for 30 metres. A driver took him to the vet, but the other driver didn’t stop.
Zoe learned about it on Facebook. A woman took him to the vet, saving Charlie’s life. He was in bad shape and had been dragged. Vets gave him sedation and shaved his fur to see the injuries.
Charlie has burns and a hole from the tire’s friction. He went home that night. The family stayed up with him, wanting to make sure he felt okay, though he was really uncomfortable.
Vets said the burns might kill skin cells, and he needs stitches and maybe a skin graft. This is a costly surgery that a special vet must do. Zoe and Stewart have ten kids, and they are all upset.
The family needs help with vet bills, which could reach about £4,000. They started a GoFundMe page to raise money for Charlie’s surgery since they can’t afford it right now. Even a small donation helps.
They feel heartbroken about Charlie’s pain. Charlie is family and as important as their kids. They’ll do anything to help him.
People have donated £1,700 already, but the goal is £4,000. The family reported this to the police.
Police are investigating the hit-and-run. A car hit a dog in Darlington around 8:10 PM on February 4. A yellow Ford didn’t stop after the incident.
