School dinner lady Farishta Jami arrested after planning travel to Afghanistan with her children for terrorism.

Police discovered a disturbing plan at her home in Stratford-upon-Avon. Jami had £1,200 to buy one-way tickets for herself and her children, with the destination being Afghanistan.
Warwickshire Police stopped Jami’s plot to “martyr herself” and her children. The court heard she researched weapons and learned how to assemble an AK-47 rifle.
Jami possessed around 7,000 videos, some showing child suicide bombers. The court convicted Jami under the 2006 Terrorism Act at Leicester Crown Court.
The court learned Jami planned travel to the Middle East. She aimed to join the ISIS affiliate in Afghanistan, also known as Isis-K, and shared extremist material on social media.
Detectives found multiple devices, sim cards, and cash at her home. She hid these items in a bag and also tried concealing passports.
Superintendent Darren Webster, who leads specialist operations for Warwickshire Police, spoke about the case, mentioning terrorism and serious crimes linked. He welcomed the outcome. Detective Chief Superintendent Alison Hurst, heading Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands, added that Jami wanted to travel since July 2023, and by November, she had a lot of cash.
She searched for flights to Afghanistan frequently over two weeks, looking for one-way tickets for herself and her kids. Jami claimed she planned visiting family. However, they found no family contact for Afghanistan or Pakistan, and welcomed the verdict.
The court will sentence Jami today.
