Hey, guess what happened with that housing thing near Cork? Some developers just won their appeal, meaning they can build a big housing area there now.
O’Leary O’Sullivan Developers got approval and are planning 166 new homes and a creche at Ballincrokig, which sits between Cork and Whitecross. These developers also built Coppenger Fields, a 74-home development near Dublin Pike that finished early last year, and are currently working on another 96 homes nearby.
Last year, they asked about building more apartments and townhouses near White’s Cross, next to Coppenger Fields, on farmland. The city initially said no, but they appealed, and now they can build!
This project includes fourteen blocks of apartments, featuring 26 one-bed and 42 two-bed units. Also, expect 20 two-bed townhouses, 18 three-bed townhouses, 42 three-bed semi-detached houses, and 18 four-bed semi-detached ones.
Their creche can now expand to accommodate 76 children, up from its original capacity of 40. You will get into the area through Ballyhooly Road, plus there’s another smaller road also providing access.
An Bord Pleanala considered several factors, including the fact that the area was zoned for homes, and the relevance of the Housing for All plan.
