The former Woodlands Hotel, a flytipping hotspot since 2018, will be replaced by a 64-bedroom care home creating 20 jobs.

The local council said okay to the plan. The council met on February 18. County Care Homes 5 Limited proposed the care home. The old hotel has been closed since 2018. It caused problems like illegal dumping.
Sturmer Parish Council supported the plan. A councillor said the new plan is good. They will fix up the village green nearby. The new care home is replacing an old one. It will create 20 new jobs.
They will cut down some trees. Specifically, eighteen trees will come down. But, they will plant more new trees. They plan to plant fifty-three new trees. So, there will be more trees than before.
A council member thinks this is important. He thinks it’s good for that area. Many older people live there. We need more things like this, he said. It’s helping people on both sides of the border. Older populations need infrastructure like this.
