Rushup Edge tops Derbyshire’s list for parking fines, near popular Mam Tor. Illegal parking causes issues for emergency access.

This causes problems near the Peak District. The fines cost £70 for illegal parking there. People try to avoid the paid parking spots. Double yellow lines are all over Rushup Edge.
Last month, gritters couldn’t get through. Two hundred cars were double-parked on the road. Emergency vehicles also struggled to reach an injured hiker. Police had to close Winnats Pass and Rushup Edge.
In May, there were 378 fines near Mam Tor. A bus company said parking blocks their routes. Police often have to get involved. Police and the council issued almost 100 fines.
This happened in February 2023 on Rushup Edge. Cars were parked awfully and dangerously. Overall, 15,139 fines were issued by NSL. Most fines were for parking in restricted streets.
Then, it was parking too long. Parking in permit spaces was the third reason. People also parked in disabled spots illegally. Chesterfield also had many high-rate fines.
People used resident parking for the gym. Others parked in disabled bays for shopping. Students parked badly to go to college. Rushup Edge had the most costly fines: 1,918.
Then came Regent Street at 833 fines. Limes Avenue had 322 fines. There were also issues at West Street and Clodhall Lane. Matlock Bath also had problems.
Motorbikes parked on the footpath. This is a hot spot for bikers, especially in spring. North Parade had 196 lower-rate fines for bad parking.
