The Repair Cafe in Derby will now be a monthly event. Residents brought various items to fix. Volunteers repaired a lot of items.

It happened at Mickleover Library on January 25. Volunteers fixed about 30 things, including toasters and clothes. Small repairs are a big help; they save money and also help the environment.
One person loved the Repair Cafe because volunteers helped them with kindness, offering advice quickly and well, saving them from almost throwing things away. Another visitor called it brilliant, noting that the event ran smoothly, even when busy.
A volunteer fixed someone’s toaster, patiently making it work again. They had drinks, and it was nice to see such kind people.
The Repair Cafe builds community and helps people learn new skills. It also promotes sustainability.
Sarah Chambers said it helps Mickleover Library by making it a friendly place for people to share ideas and learn, supporting a greener community.
The Repair Cafe will now happen monthly every last Saturday. They hope to expand this idea. The next Repair Cafe is February 22 and is open from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Bring items needing repair; it costs nothing to attend.
