The abandoned Pit Stop pub in Denton will be transformed into apartments and a shop after struggling.

The pub will become apartments with a shop, a change proposed by developers, Initiatives Design Ltd. Mr. and Mrs. Klein own the building.
Tameside Council approved the plan to build four one-bedroom flats on the building’s first floor. A shop will be located on the ground floor.
Five parking spots will be behind the building. The developers stated the pub wasn’t profitable due to changes in drinking habits and rising utility costs.
The owners bought it in 2010 and leased it to many tenants. Over twelve tenants tried to run it, each facing difficulties in building a business.
The pandemic closed the pub for a while, worsening the problems. People started drinking more at home as beer prices rose.
The owners invested time and money in the pub, but now want a better opportunity. The area needs something sustainable, they believe.
The pub had issues with noise and, at times, criminal activity. The new flats should stop those problems.
