Council tax in Denbighshire to rise by 6% impacting residents, despite extra Welsh Government funding.

The cabinet decided on this at their meeting. This includes extra money for fire services. Council services get a 5.29% increase, while fire services get a 0.71% increase.
For a Band D household, it’s about £100 extra a year. You’ll pay £1,779.48 annually. It was tough to create a balanced budget.
The council’s finances are indeed a challenge. Many UK councils face similar issues.
The Welsh Government provided more support than expected. Funding rose by 4.6%. This improved the council’s predicted budget.
This increase alone can’t balance things. So, council tax is rising 6%. Welsh Government gave £14.4 million.
They did not expect any extra from Wales. Even with the extra money, there’s still a £10 million gap. They’ll use savings and higher council taxes.
A 6% rise is tough on residents. The most vulnerable people won’t pay extra. The full council votes on this Thursday.
