Simon Vickers faces sentencing after being found guilty of murdering daughter, Scarlett Vickers.
Scarlett Vickers died last year on July 5. She suffered a stab wound to her heart at home. Her dad, Simon Vickers, was charged with murder. He denied both murder and manslaughter in court.
The jury found Vickers guilty on January 27. The trial took place at Teesside Crown Court. The prosecutor said Scarlett had a chest wound.
It was eleven inches deep. She bled to death at home, he added. Her mum called 999 and gave CPR. The trial revealed father and daughter were playfighting.
This happened in their kitchen. Vickers stabbed the teen during this, reports say. He gave different accounts of the event. Vickers claimed he threw a knife. He also said he tossed other items.
He even suggested Scarlett lunged at the knife. Jurors decided he deliberately stabbed her. Scarlett’s parents watched a football game that day. Simon Vickers had wine and cannabis.
He will return to court today for sentencing. This is for murder. The family reportedly plans to appeal. Scarlett’s grandma believes it was an accident. She trusts Sarah felt her safety was assured.
