Campaign raises awareness about the severe risks linked to the hazardous production of cannabis concentrates.

Crimestoppers started a campaign in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear. They want people to know about risky cannabis extraction, specifically butane honey oil (BHO) and shatter. BHO becomes shatter using different methods.
These strong cannabis forms are in vapes and sweets. The process uses flammable solvents like butane and propane. It’s very dangerous and explosions can happen easily.
People making it, or nearby, can get badly hurt. Even switching a light or fridge can cause a blast. Fleur Brown, from Crimestoppers, says it’s a big risk.
She wants people to report BHO, shatter, and wax production. You can contact the charity anonymously with information, either by calling their UK center or using the online form. They promise to keep your identity secret.
Sharing what you know could save someone’s life. Crimestoppers is separate from the police and wants the public’s help. You can share information anonymously, and they won’t ask for your personal details.
Look out for these signs of cannabis extraction. Is someone buying lots of butane or propane, as making BHO and shatter needs plenty of gas? Do you see unusual steel equipment, perhaps in a bedroom or flat?
Have you seen cannabis, BHO, or shatter at a property? Call Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111, or use their secure online form. In an emergency, always call 999.
