A Dagenham mum was convicted of murdering her two young children. The father discovered the boys dead in their bunkbeds.

Elijah, age two, and Marley, age five, were in bunkbeds. The dad called for help around 2 PM on December 16, 2022.
Kara Alexander, 47, was convicted at Kingston Crown Court. The sentencing happens on April 11. She ran after the discovery. Police arrested her close by.
The dad got worried about no replies from her. He was supposed to get the boys that weekend. He went to their house and she said they were sleeping. He found them in the lower bunk.
He went downstairs to get help. Alexander had run away. Paramedics couldn’t save the boys; they had been dead for hours already. Police located the mom an hour later.
Alexander claimed the boys drowned in the bath. The cause of death: suffocation or drowning. There was no forced entry into the place.
Her phone was checked and found in a filled sink. The phone was used normally until December 16. On that day, there were no calls or messages.
A detective led the investigation of this crime. He said thoughts go out to the boys’ father, who found them when collecting them for the weekend, after she didn’t answer his texts.
He added that no parent should endure this horror. Hearing all the details was difficult. He thanked the first responders, who also experienced this trauma.
The detective said the case was hard for everyone. This verdict can’t undo things, but it gives the family some closure.
