A woman, Kara Alexander, age 47, murdered her two young sons in their Dagenham home. The court, after a trial at Kingston Crown Court, found her guilty. She will receive her sentence on April 11.

On December 16, 2022, around 2 pm, someone found the kids in their bunkbed. Their father discovered them. Alexander ran away after this discovery, but police arrested her soon after nearby.

Elijah Thomas was two years old, and Marley Thomas was five. Both boys died at the house and doctors later examined them. The cause of death was restricted breathing, possibly from smothering or water.

Detectives began an investigation, searching the house and yard. There were no signs of forced entry. The curtains were closed, making the house dark.

Police reviewed CCTV footage showing Alexander and the children running errands. The last sighting of them was the afternoon of December 15, 2022.

Her phone was found in a sink with water, showing frequent use until that day. She didn’t call or text anyone on December 16, leading detectives to believe she avoided contact after the children’s deaths.

The police chief shared his thoughts with the family, especially mentioning the father who found his sons after messages went unanswered. First responders also went through this as a result. The verdict gives the family peace.
