Explore Daffodil, a unique floating venue in Liverpool’s Canning Dock, offering food, drinks, and events. Owned by Philip Olivier.

The owner is Philip Olivier, known from Brookside, and his business partner is his dad, Jimmy. They both poured their love into this project after acquiring the ship, formerly named Overchurch and later the MV Royal Daffodil.
Crossing the river to experience the famous waterfront is special. Philip showed me around the ship, which brought back many memories and showcased his amazing work.
Bringing the ship back to life wasn’t easy. Philip found it rusting in Birkenhead docks and bought it from the council in 2019. The pandemic then halted progress in March 2020 for about a year. Philip also runs Liverpool City Sights.
His bus tour won an award in 2022, recognized by Trip Advisor as the best tour in the world. You can learn about the Daffodil’s story on Philip’s podcast, which explains its name change from Royal Daffodil.
Philip is creating a small museum inside the wheelhouse. The Promenade Bar, located on the top deck, is open daily for drinks and coffee.
Monkey Island Terrace will feature chairs and tables. The main deck houses the restaurant, serving excellent surf and turf. The old engine room is being transformed into an event space for 260 people, ideal for weddings and conferences.
