Aston Green jailed after brandishing air pistol in a crowded Cornwall pub, intending to scare people

Green, 37, is from Exeter but used to live in Hayle. He admitted to affray in court and pleaded guilty to having the imitation gun. His goal was to make people fear violence.
The court learned Green got the pistol in September 2024. It looked like a real firearm, and he showed it to people at The Copper House Inn. Many people were there when this happened. Some feared for their lives because of his actions, while others in the fight saw it as just showing off.
The pistol was found without pellets, and its CO2 canister didn’t work either. But, the court heard it looked real and had the same effect as a working one.
After his arrest, Green stayed silent during police questioning. He spent a month in jail and was released on bail in late October.
The judge said the air rifle looked very real. He couldn’t believe Green possessed it at all. Grabbing the gun while drunk to threaten people stunned the judge, as people feared for their lives because of Green.
The judge knew Green regretted his actions. He also had a job and supportive references, and Green had few prior convictions, too.
Green got a 15-month suspended jail sentence. This lasts for two years, and he must do unpaid work. He needs to finish fifteen days of rehab and will work 150 hours over 12 months.
