Cliff Tamou died in an M6 crash last week. He was a 58-year-old father of six from Wigan. His HGV broke down on the M6 southbound between junctions 15 and 16.

Cliff got out of his truck and a Toyota Avensis then hit him. He died right there at the scene. Police arrived at 9:55 pm on February 27, finding a Toyota and a white MAN truck.

The Toyota driver is 22 and from Dudley. He went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested him for dangerous driving causing death.

Cliff’s family gave a touching tribute. Cliff moved to the UK from New Zealand and lived in Wigan for over 30 years. He was a husband, father, and grandfather.

He drove lorries for many years and enjoyed rugby as a player, referee, and coach. The family wants privacy during this hard time.

Police are helping Cliff’s family and want information about the crash. Did anyone see anything or have dashcam footage? Call 101 and mention incident 783 from February 27. You can also email ciu@staffordshire.police.uk.
