A £500,000 youth facility gets the go-ahead in Cramlington. It aims to provide a safe space for young people and reduce bad behavior.

Cramlington Town Council will manage the build. The county council will fund the project. They will give £144,000 soon, in 2024/25. The remaining £354,000 comes in 2025/26.
The “Cramlington Youth Zone” provides a safe space where young people can work, relax, and socialize. Workshops will offer support, like job skills, aiming to reduce local bad behavior.
Councilor Guy Renner-Thompson likes the project very much and thinks other towns should copy it. He said Cramlington took the lead, and the council will consider well-planned proposals.
In 2023, £3.5 million went to Cramlington’s regeneration. Cramlington couldn’t access some government funds, unlike most other towns in the county.
Construction should start very soon this month, and they hope to finish by December. The council also approved a Dementia Garden, which costs £255,000 at Coronation Park.
Councilor Wendy Pattison supports dementia care. The Dementia Garden offers a safe space where people with dementia can walk among sensory plants. These plants can trigger happy memories. The council members all voted to approve both projects.
