Coventry has a plan for Wisteria Lodge’s old site. This care home had a history of child abuse, and the original building came down in 2010. The council wants to build homes there now; the location is off Earlsdon Avenue South.

Eight houses are planned as detached family homes. They will be two or two-and-a-half stories high, with each house having four or five bedrooms, garages, and gardens. Shared green space is also part of the design.

A statement explains the site’s past, noting it was a children’s care home that closed and was demolished in 2010. Some concrete and lamp posts still remain, and the plan aims to build houses on this brownfield land.

The application focuses on a site-specific design, allowing for a new residential development. The project aims for a high-quality, sustainable design that fits the location and links the houses to the local community. The design considers nearby buildings, matching existing planning rules, to improve the area and create a project on this unused site.
