Stoke Green Day Nursery gets approval for new classroom, creating sixteen new places for two-year-olds and local jobs.

The nursery owners will hire four local people. The new timber building got the green light on March 6th and will sit in the back garden. It has a classroom and other things.
One neighbor wasn’t happy and worried about noise, traffic, and privacy. Officials said the building wouldn’t block light and that noise wouldn’t increase much. Road safety should not worsen.
The nursery wants the new classroom because demand for places increased quite a bit. They have a long waiting list, and the government’s childcare policy also boosts demand.
The nursery opened fourteen years ago and holds sixty spaces right now. They urgently need the new classroom, which lets them take kids from the waiting list.
The classroom won’t be visible from the road, so it will affect neighbors minimally. The nursery has eight parking spots, and staff should carpool or use transit. They will stagger drop-off and pick-up times.
Two new employees could be apprentices. The nursery wants local hires, and council planning portal PL/2024/0002200/FUL has the details, which you can find online.
