People left flowers for Martin Edgar. He was an “amazing” man from Coventry who died after a serious assault. He was found badly hurt in Hillfields.

Police say the attack happened on Waterloo Street early on Tuesday, February 11. He went to the hospital with severe head injuries, but sadly, he died on Friday, February 14.

His family remembers him as a “beloved son and brother”. People left heartfelt notes at the spot; One note said they’d miss his smile and dancing. Another note says someone’s heart is broken and that they don’t know how to live without him. Also, people placed tealights where the incident supposedly happened.

He was 42 years old. Many people have shared tributes for Martin. One said they can’t describe the loss but that he would stay in their hearts always and they will always love him.

Akbar Khan, 24, faces charges for wounding and showed up in court on Friday, February 14. Police want to change the charge and are working with the CPS.

Detective Inspector Phil Poole said a man tragically died and that they will find out what happened and why. He wants information from anyone who knows anything to help his family.

West Midlands Police also spoke, saying they are thinking of his family and helping them during this sad time.
