A Coventry care home’s old land might get new houses. Wisteria Lodge was in Earlsdon, but the building’s gone for 15 years. It’s been empty since then.

People wondered about that overgrown plot a while back. Last week, the council just sent in two plans to develop “Fountain Court”.

One plan features eight big family houses, each with gardens and garages. Another idea is for 24 over-55s, which could be a care home or flats. These flats could be assisted or independent living.

Reports show Coventry needs elderly care. More people need beds than exist now, and this gap will grow soon. It will add over 200 people.

Another report said the council wants more housing, and it helps to use old industrial land for this. The building will slightly affect the area because it’s near a listed fountain.

You can find details online using codes PL/2025/0000265/OUT for family homes, or PL/2025/0000263/OUTM for over-55s housing. You can find it on the council’s website.
