Council to decide on 41 houses plan in Countesthorpe amid rising sewage reports and local objections.

Hampton Oak wants to build 31 market-rate houses. These include homes with two, three, or four bedrooms. They also plan 10 affordable houses, where some will be for rent, and others are for shared ownership.
The houses will be detached or semi-detached. Each house gets its own parking space, though the plan has sparked controversy in the village.
Over 500 people object to the building plans, while three people support them. Countesthorpe Parish Council also objects to them. They want issues checked before approval.
The council worries about sewage problems. Residents report sewage issues already, and they urge a full check of the sewage system before any decision.
The council also wants updated traffic studies to assess the impact on junctions. They cite the junction at Hallcroft Avenue and argue the plan ignores other developments nearby.
Blaby District Council may approve the plan, despite local concerns. Highway officials find the site access acceptable and think the impact on roads is minor.
Planning officers said impacts can be lessened and outweigh benefits of the houses. The council cites construction jobs as one benefit and notes improvements to local resources.
Officials admit it harms the countryside and acknowledge the loss of farmland. Still, they say new housing makes up for it.
