Local councillors worked together on a cleanup. Despite party differences, they united for this effort. The event occurred in the Marton West ward. This happened on Saturday, February 22. They planned more work for March 8.

Ian Morrish is a Marton West councillor. He helped organize the pavement cleanup, and other local councillors joined the effort. They worked for three hours that day.

The team removed moss and overgrown ivy. David Branson and Paul McInnes assisted too. They serve Coulby Newham and Normanby respectively. The cleanup happened on The Fairway road near a roundabout.

Morrish stated that the path is now accessible and that a resident can now use the cleaned path. He thanked Linzie and Andy Murphy Brown. Andy chairs the Marton West Community Council.

Branson mentioned living nearby and knowing Morrish well. He said the cleanup was not political and that councillors should work together. He also mentioned previously painting a bus stop with Morrish.

Branson said councillors should collaborate more on non-divisive issues. Morrish thought it was great working across parties. They came together for the community’s good.

McInnes enjoyed helping locally with the others. It doesn’t take much time, he said. He hopes more people will join future efforts and added that local volunteers do amazing work.
