Coventry council issues stop notice on former bank in Earlsdon following unauthorized demolition. No building plans were submitted.

The council heard local worries and aided councilors to help. This initial stop notice lasts 56 days and ended February 25th at midnight.
No one filed any building plans. The council needs action to halt work, requiring planning permission before anything else happens.
The council hasn’t used a Stop Notice in two decades. They can’t issue another temporary one so they sent a real Stop Notice, and sent an Enforcement Notice to block more construction.
Andrew Walster directs City Services. He said they heard residents’ concerns and worked with councilors, but got no owner plans.
Walster finds the lack of plans frustrating and wants to find a way forward. That’s why they issued the Stop Notice, as Earlsdon is a protected area, and the demolition damaged the area’s special nature.
