I visited Craig-y-Don in Conwy last week. It was sunny and the village felt very cosmopolitan. Craig-y-Don is near Llandudno. It has become a great place to eat and shop, with the beautiful North Shore also close by.

I walked along the Prom, where Little Orme’s slopes looked amazing under the bright sunshine. I then explored the village itself, discovering its diverse array of cafes and shops from many countries.

Carmen’s Asian Mini Market sells Asian goods, and Rousta’s serves Greek food. Sylhet Spice is an Indian restaurant and Casa Reme is a delicatessen. There are plenty of choices for food and drinks in the village.

Andy Boddis and Carmen run Carmen’s Asian Mini Market in Craig-y-Don. Andy mentions that his wife’s name is Yue Ming and she is from Shenzen, China.

Chinese lanterns hang in their store while shelves hold rice, smoked paprika, and Persian beef stew. Andy said people used to travel far for Asian food. Now, they shop locally and cook Asian food at home.

People know the ingredients are fresh, and recipes are available on YouTube. After visiting the Mini Market, I checked out other places on Queen’s Road.

An antiques shop displayed interesting items, including a strange asylum sign. Benard’s Gallery, The Little Shop of Hairdo’s, and The Quilting Bee, which sells sewing supplies, are also nearby.

Helen Wilson owns The Quilting Bee, and her shop is getting more customers. Julie Roberts also works there and customers visit from many places. Even Americans come to the shop.

Julie said Craig-y-Don is a real community hub. Sewing classes are held upstairs, and Debra, a sewing bee finalist, runs one of the classes.

I wished I had more time to visit other places like Cask & Apple, a craft beer bar, and Ascot Tapproom, a micropub. Craig-y-Don clearly offers many things to see and do.

Queens Park and tennis courts are available for recreation. A Kadampa Buddhist centre is also in the area. This village is wonderful, and it is no surprise that more people are visiting it.
