Carclaze Infants School, destroyed in a 2020 fire, fetched £262,000 at auction after intense bidding.

The fire destroyed half the roof. Clive Emson Auctioneers handled the sale for Cornwall Council.
The building’s price was expected to be £50,000 to £70,000. The auction happened on February 6 and got 76 offers. The final price was £262,000, much higher than expected!
David Henwood was the auctioneer. He said buyers were really eager, driving the price way up.
The new owner has options to fix it up or rebuild. They might build houses there, but need to get permission first.
The school was among 177 items for sale. Two land plots near St Austell were also sold, located off Bungullow Lane, on the High Street. One plot was 0.31 acres with a small building, selling for £40,050. The other was 0.1 acres and fetched £15,500.
