Andrew Lewis, 59, died after falling from a viaduct in Cornwall. Loved ones remember him as a devoted, proud father.

An inquest took place in Truro to find his cause of death. Andrew ran a gardening business and a holiday let business. He died in Derriford Hospital after the incident. A train driver saw a man on the viaduct.
The driver stopped the train on May 9, 2024. Staff spoke to Andrew for an hour, but sadly, they couldn’t stop his fall. Kylie Lewis, who had been with Andrew since 1999, described him as a great dad.
They moved to Cornwall in the early 2000s. She said he would do anything for their daughters, always taking them to school and to work during holidays. He cheerfully supported them at sports.
Andrew had depression for years but wasn’t taking medication at the time, although he had contact with mental health services before. Kylie knew he worried about his health. He feared getting COPD, especially after his father’s health declined before he died.
Kylie believes he planned to end his life in early 2024 because he feared more health problems. Senior coroner Andrew Cox said Andrew died from injuries from the fall and ruled it suicide.
Mr. Cox said Andrew had been unwell and his mood was low. He didn’t want to burden his family or become ill, and his father’s illness affected him deeply.
