Cornerstone appeals after Walsall Council rejects its 5G mast plan in Great Barr, citing visual concerns.

The council thinks it would look strange, given the proximity of homes. Cornerstone wants a 17.5-meter mast, including antennas and equipment, but the council refused permission in August 2024.
Cornerstone initially wanted a 20-meter mast, which the council also refused due to similar visual concerns. This time, Cornerstone lowered the height in their renewed proposal.
Cornerstone argues that the change helps their case. They point to a 2020 approval for a mast on Collingwood Drive, nearby. That earlier project could not be built due to underground lines.
Cornerstone believes the council is incorrect in its current assessment. The company says site choices are limited and that the benefits outweigh any potential harm, while the council focuses solely on nearby houses.
The council and Cornerstone will exchange further information with a deadline of April 1, 2025. No inquiry date has been scheduled at this time.
