Volunteers in Cork are raising funds to acquire essential defibrillators, improving emergency response times in the community.

Glanmire Community First Responders aid the ambulance service. These selfless volunteers deal with medical emergencies. They assist with cardiac problems and other issues. The volunteers have training and experience.
They need more tools to help everyone. They want to answer all calls effectively. The group needs five new AEDs this week. They share one AED right now. Multiple calls at once create a problem.
Mac B Ltd, Southern Fencing, and one resident helped. They funded three devices for the group. The group still seeks sponsorships for two more.
AEDs are not inexpensive for the group. Devices cost €500 to over €2,000 each. Price depends on the AED model. The group wants AED sponsors from the community. Volunteers currently share only one AED for calls.
