The Wallace family fundraises in Cork for Daffodil Day. It honors their dad who died in an accident. It supports the Irish Cancer Society.

They decorate their home to raise funds and host a coffee weekend, both in support of the Irish Cancer Society. Many people attend the two-day event, with some even traveling from Waterford.
Maggey Wallace said her mom started it at 40 after seeing an ad for volunteers. Many people they knew died from cancer, and they wanted to honor them.
Three generations are now involved, though Maggey’s grandmother is deceased. The family includes her, her nephew, and two sisters. Maggey’s mother organizes the event and plans to continue as long as she can.
This year, the event promises to be special. Tommy C, a local DJ, will bring a fun atmosphere, and they will sell merchandise and gifts, with all proceeds benefiting the Cancer Society.
The cottage features a garden of hope, and attendees can meet Billy Bear, the mascot, named after Maggey’s father. Her dad helped before he died in 2005.
The family needs volunteers to make coffee, sell tickets, and staff the shop. It takes lots of preparation, but it is the highlight of the year.
The family also seeks donations of gift sets and jewelry for raffles. The event is March 27 and 28 at 5 Spittal Cottages, Cloyne, Co Cork. The phone number to contact the Wallaces is 0214652052.
