337 Dockland homes in Cork, part of a major build, have been sold for social housing by the Land Development Agency.

Almost 1,200 homes are being built on Cork’s docklands; some are for affordable housing. The Land Development Agency bought 337 units for around €150 million.
Glenveagh Properties is constructing these homes on the former Ford site. When complete, there will be 1,178 homes. Construction began in April 2024.
The overall project will include new apartments, some as high as 14 stories. The docklands plan also encompasses restaurants, retail spaces, cafes, and a hospital. Furthermore, a light rail line will service the area.
The Land Development Agency plays a key role in building affordable homes and increasing the availability of social housing. This agency is sponsored by the government.
Cork City Council is also collaborating with the LDA to build 140 more homes near Old Station Road and the South Link Road. The council intends to apply for planning permission, and building could start in 2027. The first homes could be ready as early as 2030.
