Homes in Cork face four nights of potential water discoloration as Uisce Éireann starts intensive flushing works.

They will work on The Avenue, Pope’s Hill, and other areas. It starts Monday, March 3rd and they think it will take four nights, total. Your home could have discolored water or no water.
Flushing starts after 10 PM and ends early morning. This will limit the impact on homes. After flushing, water might take 3-4 hours to return.
Homes uphill could take longer to get water back. The water is safe if it runs clear. Discolored water may mean too much manganese and too much manganese can harm your brain later.
They are giving out leaflets about this to people living there. Signs will show where they are flushing pipes. These works are in “Zone 3” of the flushing plan.
Zone four should begin very soon in the next few weeks. James Goulding from Uisce Éireann said they finished two zones and zone three starts on the northside soon. Flushing helps cut down on discolored water.
RTÉ Prime Time had a show about water issues in Cork. Some locals stopped drinking tap water and one business owner said it hurts her business. CorkBeo wrote about too much manganese in our water. A politician showed dirty water in government last October.
