Conwy considers a near 10% council tax hike for the third consecutive year due to Welsh Government funding issues.

Conwy faces a big £7.473 million budget gap. To address this, councillors might raise council tax. A Band D home’s bill could rise £162.94 yearly, making the total yearly bill £1,896.31.
The report mentions a lack of government funds. Council tax might increase to cover essential services, also including a fire service levy increase, which adds 0.68% to the council tax.
The Welsh Government gave Conwy a 3.6% funding increase. Last year, Conwy got the joint lowest increase at 2%. The council says they absorbed £92.559 million in cuts over twelve years.
The new budget includes £2.517 million in service cuts, affecting some council services. Last year’s council tax went up by 9.67%, and the year before that, it rose 9.9%.
