Colomendy’s future is now under discussion. Leaders in North Wales have been talking about it. Liverpool Council owns the land, and they recently got the lease back.

Liverpool and North Wales share close ties. Many people travel between them regularly. Colomendy has been a key link for years, where Liverpool children visited for outdoor trips.

It started as a place for evacuees in World War Two. After the war, the council took it over, always aiming to help Liverpool’s children. The site closed suddenly last month.

Kingswood Colomendy Ltd ran the site, but their parent company also stopped trading. They appointed administrators to handle things, as the council had issued a 30-year lease back in 2007.

The administrators returned the lease. Liverpool Council will now decide what to do with the land. It remains in the North Wales countryside, making it a decision across the border.

Carolyn Thomas, a Welsh Parliament member, hopes for a solution that benefits everyone. Colomendy sits in a beautiful area, and people love visiting Loggerheads nearby.

Families often share Colomendy memories, and it also helps the local economy, even farms. Thomas wants to keep it as an outdoor center. She asks groups to talk to Liverpool Council.

Mark Isherwood, also in Welsh Parliament, agrees that talks are very important. Colomendy is important to many people, who must support future opportunities.

He wants local groups to talk with Liverpool to find a solution for young people. Three of Kingswood’s centers will stay open; PGL bought those locations recently.

Huw Williams, a local councilor, thinks the closure is sad. Money issues may make reopening hard, but he values the connection Colomendy provides.

He welcomes talks with Liverpool, understanding that everyone faces budget cuts. Chris Bithell, another seasoned councilor, remembers children visiting over generations.

Colomendy gave new experiences to many. He frequently spoke to people with great memories. They always had a great relationship with Liverpool. He hopes groups find a way to continue these opportunities.
