A major cliff fall near Seaton, Devon, triggers safety alerts. Coastguards urge public to avoid the unstable area after debris.

The lifeboat and coastguards checked the area to be sure nobody got hurt. Debris keeps falling from the cliff, east of the River Axe toward Coverhole.
They want everyone to avoid that area along the East Devon coastline. Don’t climb over or walk near it because it’s very risky right now.
The Beer Coastguard team posted online that the major fall impacted the golf course. Photos show the beach below is affected too. They repeated the stay away advice.
More minor rockfalls happened lately as well, over the past week. The Rescue Team mentioned another fall on Friday near the River Axe mouth.
Mud slides and falls occurred there and winter weather made cliffs unstable. They saw one small, new fall and urge people to keep away from all cliff bases because they’re unstable and dangerous.
Another collapse happened last October on East Beach, Dorset, between West Bay and Freshwater, resulting in a big rubble pile. The coastal path was already shut due to a landslip back in February of 2024.
