Chris Todd is the preferred candidate for Humberside Police Chief Constable after a selection process. A confirmation hearing is in March.

Humberside Police had no permanent chief since June 2024, following Paul Anderson’s retirement. Judi Heaton took over temporarily in July, for six months. Her time involved an IOPC investigation.
The police first tried to find a new chief, but nobody applied, and that attempt stopped in August. Heaton’s contract got extended in December as they still needed a permanent chief. It extended another six months.
Humberside Police advertised the job again in January, with a salary of £171,519 per year. Applications closed February 2.
Jonathan Evison picked Chris Todd, and the selection panel agreed, making Todd their preferred candidate. He was chosen from a shortlist of three people; Evison is the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Todd will attend a confirmation hearing in March. Humberside Police and Crime Panel will be there, and people expect his appointment will be approved.
Todd previously worked for West Midlands Police, as a Chief Superintendent. He also worked for Hong Kong police in the 1990s and is currently Assistant Chief Constable in Northern Ireland.
Todd said he felt humbled and proud he got the offer to lead Humberside Police. He is excited to meet his new colleagues and looks forward to the hard work.
Evison thanked Chief Constable Heaton; she provided needed stability, and improved performance for the public resulted. He wants Todd to continue service improvements and for the force to continue this forward path.
