Yasmine Zweegers warns of a “paint scam” after jewellery and valuables were stolen near Kings Cross station.
Yasmine, who is 25, had just come back from Yorkshire with her mom. They called an Uber on Pancras Road. As they walked toward the arriving car, a man stopped them.
He told Yasmine she had poop on her back. She took off her coat to check and found brown paint all over it, as she said on TikTok. Her mom didn’t see how it got there. The man gave her tissues for the paint. They loaded bags into the Uber.
Yasmine thinks her purse got stolen at that moment. It had jewelry, clothes, and a camera. She felt tricked by his kindness. She believes a group does this scam often, and knowing about it can help stop it.
It is a simple trick, but it works very well. The incident occurred outside St Pancras station. She initially thought she was just having a bad day. Months ago, she saw a TikTok about this scam where a man did the same thing to another girl.
Someone yelled, “he’s about to take your bag!”. So, be very careful out there. Theft can be sneaky and distracting, and she’s sad about losing sentimental items.
