A bus caught fire in Chelmsley Wood near the bus interchange yesterday, February 18, around 1:45 PM.

The bus was a National Express West Midlands number 72 and a single decker. Flames ripped through the back of the bus, and thick smoke filled the air.

Luckily, no one got trapped or hurt. People nearby filmed the fire, and shopping centre security tried to keep people away before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters from Bickenhill and Ward End, assisted by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, used water hoses and breathing gear. They protected the shopping centre.

The fire service arrived at 1:43 PM and left the scene just after 3 PM. Police managed the scene afterward as vehicle recovery was being arranged.

NX West Midlands confirmed everyone got off safely without injuries. They will work with the fire service to investigate and apologized for delays.
