Alice Archer, 30, banned for two years from Chelmsford shops after numerous thefts from Co-op and John Lewis.

Police arrested her in January this year. The Chelmsford Town Centre Team investigated, and she admitted to the thefts that same month. She received a suspended five-month jail sentence that lasts for twelve months.
On February 19th, police got a court order. It’s a Criminal Behaviour Order that bans her for two years. She can’t go to John Lewis or Co-op in Chelmsford. This helps local businesses avoid more theft.
Sergeant Graham Thomas talked about shoplifting and said they don’t tolerate it. Businesses work hard, he explained, but shoplifting hurts them, big or small. Police want to stop this crime.
Essex police made many arrests last year, arresting almost fourteen hundred shoplifters. They secured more than twenty-five hundred charges and solved over one hundred more crimes than before. Police take shoplifting seriously; they get court orders to stop it and act if people break those orders.
