Thousands will run the Chelmsford Half Marathon this Sunday, leading to road closures for runner safety.
Roads will close briefly for runner safety. The routes also include 5km and 10km options. The races start and finish at Anglia Ruskin University. Runners then go toward Great Baddow, continuing through Chelmer Village, and finally through the city to finish.
Rolling road closures will be in place on Sunday. Roads reopen soon after runners pass to enhance safety and reduce delays to traffic.
The race director thanked residents for their patience and invited people to cheer on runners.
Anglia Ruskin University supports the race. The Vice Chancellor stated these events help local charities and brings runners, friends, and family together for the half marathon.
There will be rolling road closures from 8:50 to 9:25 a.m. Closures include Ransomes Way roundabout, Bishop Hall Lane and its roundabout, and Rectory Lane between Bishop Hall Lane and Parkway. Parkway will close to Market roundabout going south/east.
These roads close Sunday, March 2: High Bridge closes from 5 to 10:30 a.m., while the road going east from Army & Navy to Howe Green closes from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Woodhill Road closes eastbound, starting at Molrams Lane to Brick Kiln Road, from 5 to 11 a.m. Brick Kiln Road closes to Maldon Road from 5 to 11 a.m. Sandford Mill Lane closes 4 to 11 a.m. Access on Brook End Road and Chelmer Village Way westbound access goes until 12:30 p.m for residents on Brook End Road, This lasts from 4 to 11:30. It runs between Kingsford Drive and Mill Vue Road.
Alan Cherry Drive closes February 28 at 7 a.m through March 2 at 10 p.m.
Lane closures on Sunday, March 2 include Parkway’s inside lane from Market to Army & Navy, closing from 5 to 10:30 a.m. One westbound lane on Chelmer Bridge closes at the same time and a lane at Springfield Road roundabout also closes.
