Chelmsford’s driving test centre shut abruptly, causing stress for candidates, with tests temporarily moved to Writtle.

Marie Goldman, a local MP, spoke about the issue. Tests are still happening, but they aren’t happening at the center, though. People meet examiners on the road nearby now.
Driving instructors gave students some details: tests are now at the Hanging Gardens Tea Room in Writtle, apparently. This is actually real, not a joke.
Goldman wrote a letter to the Transport Secretary, saying the closure worries people. Solicitors left a notice about broken obligations, mentioning repairs and maintenance problems.
Goldman said the center’s closure surprised everyone and thinks the situation is unsatisfactory. Meeting examiners on the road causes worry. She wants DVSA to fix things fast.
The DVSA was asked for a statement and previously told the BBC about the issue: They cannot access the Chelmsford test center. Tests happened under backup plans that day.
They said they are working to fix it quickly. If tests are cancelled, they will reschedule them and candidates will get direct contact.
