Dozens of tests cancelled after surprise Chelmsford driving test centre closure. DVSA alleges unlawful action.

Tests started again on Monday, thankfully. Since Tuesday, tests are being conducted at alternative locations. The DVSA is calling the closure illegal and has involved lawyers.
Apparently, the landlord claims the DVSA broke the lease. The DVSA has been renting that land since 1968, and it’s been a test center for a long time.
A DVSA person told the news they believe the closure is unlawful. Lawyers are in contact with the landlord’s representatives, and they are utilising backup locations to carry out tests.
If your test was affected, they will reach out to you. If your test was cancelled, they will rebook it. Things should be normal at the new test spots, and they will contact you if there’s a problem.
Back in 1968, the Ministry of Transport ran the testing center. They tested big vehicles like lorries. Later, VOSA did it, then the DVSA after 2012; that’s why the lease says the Secretary of State for Transport.
