Glebe House, birthplace of author Charles Kingsley, will be restored into a family home after falling into disrepair.

Hey, guess what I just read? Planners approved a big repair project for Charles Kingsley’s birthplace in Devon. You know, the guy who wrote The Water Babies!
His birthplace is Glebe House in Holne. He was born there way back in 1819. The house had fallen into bad shape and really needed some help. But, the owners made a plan to fix it up nicely.
The house is super old, from the 1700s, and it’s even a Grade Two listed building. That means it’s historically important. It also has a classic thatched roof, and the owners want to add to it and fix it up.
They want a ground floor extension and also plan some first floor changes. The goal is to make it a comfy family home. The house has been empty for years, sadly.
Someone from the park authority spoke up, saying this project is a good step. The building was deteriorating badly each year. He wanted to save this historic place.
Another member was also pleased. He mentioned the owners are preserving the house, as it was practically falling apart before they bought it. Now, it will last for a long time.
